Our Story
We Grew Up Around It.
Our story starts long before Static Barn.
Growing up in Redwood Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Healdsburg, the UK and British Columbia, our team came of age in and around very different cannabis cultures through the '80s, '90s and 2000s. Eventually, those paths brought us together during California's post-recreational cannabis experiment.
Along the way, we worked on a lot of projects together. Some were wildly successful. Some were disastrous. All of them taught us something.
But hash was always different.
We remembered the European hash we occasionally found on the streets of New York, the hash bars of Amsterdam, and even the mysterious bits we discovered in our parents' top drawers. There was something about traditional hash—the ritual, the craft, the history and the character of it—that stayed with us.
Eventually, we decided to try making it ourselves.
Strangely enough, people got excited about it.
The Craft
Some Things Can't Be Automated.
What followed was years of trial and error, experimenting with different techniques, equipment and processes in pursuit of the best dry sift and whole-plant fresh-frozen static hash we could make.
We tried the tricks. We tried the machines. We kept learning.
And eventually we came back to something remarkably simple:
Hand sifting cannot be replaced.
Technology can help us refine the process, but the foundation is still careful material selection, patience, touch and the judgment of the people doing the work.
We partner with farmers throughout California's Emerald Triangle and with breeders who are as excited as we are about exceptional genetics and the strains that helped build cannabis culture in the first place.
The Next Chapter
An Old Tradition. A New Generation.
After years of trials, tribulations and refinement, Static Barn entered the global marketplace at Mary Jane Berlin in 2026.
We don't see what we're doing as inventing something new. Hash has a history far longer than ours.
We're simply grateful to have a place in its next chapter—to work with great farmers and breeders, keep learning, keep improving, and serve a revitalized marketplace that has rediscovered its appreciation for this long-standing tradition.
Real Strains. Real Quality. Static Barn.
